Who's too lame to use email? *I'm* too lame to use email!

There are a couple of adventures I'd like to have happen this summer, and I am realizing that they involve some communication on my part.

clipdude, qousqous and I all went over our calendars, and it looks like the only common open space is starting roughly July 17th and going through mid-August (correct me if i'm wrong, guys, but that's what you wrote down). Our master plan, if visiting you at some point during that time would work for you, is to take Hwy 101 down the coast and camp along the way, then spend some time staying with you, then drive back up camping again. Thus, it'll take us probably 2-3 days of travel each way, which needs to be factored in. Anyway, let us know if it would work to stay with you for a few days (or even a week, maybe) at some point during that time. If not, I'm going to launch a bold lobbying attempt to get us to go to Canada, because they have wine gums there.

Gigantic, which is a movie about TMBG, will be playing in Seattle from August 15th to August 21st. Depending on when the aforementioned CA trip happens, I'd kind of like to see it, and they haven't mentioned it playing in Portland at all. Is there any crash-on-your-floor time available during that time period? I'd buy tickets for you and Siobhan to go to the movie with me....

Anyone else:
If you live in either Seattle or the Bay Area and would like to be part of a meet-for-snacks type adventure in either locale, comment and let me know. This is probably the only time I'll go to the Bay Area in the near future because I hate it and it hates me right back. The only good things about the Bay Area are U-turns and In-and-Out burger, both of which I am looking forward to, although neither outweighs the seething horribleness.

Hmm...I have a bit of a conundrum...the thing is, that I myself will be housesitting for (read:crashing on the floor of) a friend from around a week from now through about the end of august. So I don't think I'm technically allowed to let other people stay in the place. On the other hand, I haven't really asked about that part of things, so I'll do my best to find out if they would be fine with it. On the other other hand, we might actually have another place by then, in which case the answer is "absolutely, we must do so." And no need to get us tickets either, really. Just keep in touch about when it would be best to show up, and I'm sure we can work it out...

Ah...well, keep me posted. I totally understand about crashing on people's floors and what that does to your guest-having ability. Also, good luck with the place-finding.

Wine gums are not actually gum, nor do they have any wine in them. They are somewhat hard fruit-flavored gummy candies that are more bitter and less overpoweringly sweet than any other candies I've had. I suppose the taste is kind of like wine, but I'm not really a wine person so I don't really know. I used to buy them from a British import store as a special treat when I was little. I didn't have them again after that store went out of business until I went to Canada in December and saw them in a convenience store. Unlike so many things from childhood (like coffee, the smurfs, and having squirt gun fights), these were still as good as I remembered them being. If I still have any of my current stash left when I next see you, I'll bring some.

Yes, I suppose they would be. These are a little harder and less sticky, though, in addition to the flavor difference. Almost licorice-textured, I suppose.

Not that it matters now, but Gigantic screened at the Guild Theatre downtown a few months ago. i think it was only there one night. I didn't go.

Yeah, I vaguely remember that. I was either feeling too jumpy about crowds, too poor, or was busy. I'm feeling less jumpy now, I'm getting tired of being poor so I'm starting to do some stuff anyway, and if I plan ahead then I shouldn't be busy. Bah. I wish movies would stick around longer.
