I am *such* a dumbass

(M|T)om are in Japan this week, so I asked mom to bring me back the current issue of some magazine with manga in it so I can see what those magazines look like. I didn't ask for anything specific since:

a) Most of the stuff I read is long over anyway
b) She would have a heck of a time telling them apart
c) It would be far ahead of what I could get here and thus full of spoilers
d) I can't read a speck of Japanese anyway, I just wanted to see how the magazines are set up

So anyway, Toshi (Tom's boss) just called me from Japan to try to figure out which one I wanted since mom couldn't explain it. Boy did I feel dumb trying to explain that it really didn't matter which one I wanted since I couldn't read it anyway. Oh well. We'll see what I end up with. I mostly wanted to see what the layout was like, how many ads they have and so on.

Go me.

Shonen Sunday! or Ribbon, they are good ones. If you get the manga and wanna see more and maybe learn to read japanese, Kinokuniya inside Uwajimaya's carries new (2-4 day lag) manga and magazines.

Actually, I tried to ask for Ribon, but Toshi didn't understand or hadn't heard of it. (I wasn't sure how to pronounce it, he didn't understand it when I said it as I would normally. On the other hand, he probably has better things to do with his time that read shojo manga (which he did understand when I said, so at least I'm likely to get something in the right category) so he may not be familiar with magazine names in that category.

When in doubt, go Ribon. My best friend actually has a subscription to it at Kinokuniya down here in San Jose.
