*sigh*

I can't decide if I want to go up to the Gig Harbor Ren Faire with my mom this weekend or not. It'd be a lot of money (mom wants to get a hotel room rather than drive up and back in a day), and I'm just not sure I'd like it.

Bleh. Why can't it be closer, so it wouldn't have to be such a damn production to go?

I am very tired of looking for hotel rooms in Tacoma, which I generally drive through as fast as the law allows.

I'm also broke, so I'm not sure this is the year to go some place with a bunch of expensive-yet-shiny things that I really can't wear while student teaching.

Plus, I'm not sure if this is the kind of event where I'll have much fun with mom following me around the whole time. If Tom were going too, I could sneak off for a while, but since it'll be just the two of us, I really can't.

Plus, you know, there'll be lots of people there, and I hate people. And the last time I went to a ren faire it sucked. But that was in Anchorage, which probably had something to do with that.

But I want to wander around and listen to pretty music.

Hm, I really enjoyed my last ren-fair, but considering I went with Jim who I had a huge crush on at the time, and we got to hold hands and spend all day together, I'm not sure that really says anything about the whole ren-faire. Have fun whatever you do!

There's quite a lot of pretty music. I wish I had more time to take in the entertainment. We're going to have a somewhat smaller group there this weekend, which might have a negative impact on our sound. And we'll be doing the same set at 1:30 and 3:30 since there are some songs we can't do well with the smaller group. (Not that there's any reason you'd want to see us twice on the same day.)

There's camping available next to the faire site, which is cheaper than a hotel. Our group is camping there. And after hours hanging out is a nice part of the experience.

At least the weather should be reasonable. Last weekend was unbearably hot.

We'll also be performing at the Shrewsbury faire in King's Valley, OR, on September 10. (I'm pretty sure we're only performing on Saturday.) That's much closer to Eugene, but it's smaller, and may have less that's of interest to you.
