It appears that Dad and Ann had a fight, and Dad is now back home again, rather than after the weekend as he had planned. Thus, the don't call after 2100 on the land line rule is again in effect. Also the no large groups of noisy people in the house during normal sleeping hours rule, and other assorted rules.

On the bright side, if this holds he'll be around to go buy the Harry Potter book on release day, which means I can read it for free when he's busy watching golf or something rather than shelling out the money myself. I plan to use the money I will save by doing so on manga.

I haven't read anything "challenging" or "at my reading level" in a very long time. I suppose I should do that eventually. Bah.

I'm getting frustrated with [livejournal.com profile] animepdx. Everyone has so many scheduling issues that no one ever comes, or else they're not really interested, or something. Last month, we only had one person who wasn't either a club leader or the guy who lived there show up. It seems like I'm basically scheduling a very complicated way to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] qousqous and watch videos, which we have been able to manage for years without needing complicated polls and internet sites to help us out. Only about 5 people even bothered to vote on when the meeting should be this time. I don't really mind if people just aren't interested, but I keep thinking that if I just tried harder I could get people to come. It just seems like if I plan in advance then the people I've bent over backwards to accommodate don't come anyway and if I do it at the last minute people tend to already have plans. I can't win.

There are a couple of adventures I'd like to have happen this summer, and I am realizing that they involve some communication on my part.

[livejournal.com profile] clipdude, [livejournal.com profile] qousqous and I all went over our calendars, and it looks like the only common open space is starting roughly July 17th and going through mid-August (correct me if i'm wrong, guys, but that's what you wrote down). Our master plan, if visiting you at some point during that time would work for you, is to take Hwy 101 down the coast and camp along the way, then spend some time staying with you, then drive back up camping again. Thus, it'll take us probably 2-3 days of travel each way, which needs to be factored in. Anyway, let us know if it would work to stay with you for a few days (or even a week, maybe) at some point during that time. If not, I'm going to launch a bold lobbying attempt to get us to go to Canada, because they have wine gums there.

Gigantic, which is a movie about TMBG, will be playing in Seattle from August 15th to August 21st. Depending on when the aforementioned CA trip happens, I'd kind of like to see it, and they haven't mentioned it playing in Portland at all. Is there any crash-on-your-floor time available during that time period? I'd buy tickets for you and Siobhan to go to the movie with me....

Anyone else:
If you live in either Seattle or the Bay Area and would like to be part of a meet-for-snacks type adventure in either locale, comment and let me know. This is probably the only time I'll go to the Bay Area in the near future because I hate it and it hates me right back. The only good things about the Bay Area are U-turns and In-and-Out burger, both of which I am looking forward to, although neither outweighs the seething horribleness.

Dad and Ann seem to have made up, and he's back over there again. Supposedly, he'll be there until Monday. Of course, since I don't know if they'll have another fight again, I don't really want to get too comfortable and you know, invite anyone over or anything, since he might come back at any time and in no mood to deal with my nonsense and wacky friends.

This more or less ruined my get-him-to-buy-Harry-Potter master plan. He says I can go buy it, along with paperbacks of 1-3 (which we don't have, although we have 4) and he will pay me back, but I no longer really believe him when he says that, since he often decides not to pay me back anymore. Since I had to pay another over $160 bill related to my orthotics that my insurance sprung on me this week (this for appointments in January and February that I'd assumed that they'd covered and only now got around to billing me for instead), I'm really not up for spending about $40 on books right now. I'll be feeling less poor in another two weeks or so when I have more of a budget cushion back, but I need to be careful with my luxuries until then. It doesn't help that I'm going out twice in the next three days, but I'm not skipping either hanging out with Jeff ([livejournal.com profile] safetygoth) who I haven't seen in over a month, or listening to Heather Alexander again. I'm expecting those evenings will cost me about $10 and $30 respectively, but I could be way off. I'd rather do those two things than get Harry Potter right when it comes out, so screw it.

Maybe if I feel really trusting of my dad tomorrow I'll go get them, but I really doubt it. He's just burned me too many times on this stuff. I know he's tired of me staying here, and I know I'm not paying rent or anything, but what gets me is that he goes back on things he said. I don't really care if he doesn't want to pay for something, he can just tell me that and I'll decide for myself if it's worth buying. I'm 22 and out of school, and it's really not his job to take care of me anymore. It's not his fault that I can't get a damn job. It's just when I buy something that I'd either have put off or not bought at all (or, in the case of the orthotics, which are now up to at least $635 that he didn't pay after saying he would, have asked my mother to help out with) and then he backs out of paying for it that it does terrible things to my budget, and I'd really like that to stop.

Grrbah!
