It seems that my circa 1998 or 1999 ICQ client is no longer allowed on the ICQ network. Assuming that ICQ otherwise still exists, what's a good third-party ICQ client? I have no interest in downloading a new official client, since I understand they introduced ads at some point. I wonder if I have the faintest clue what password I used...

Failing that, what IM programs are the cool kids using these years?

Info for IM's, AIM is the popular one, but Yahoo kicks ass. It really depends if you want to actually have friends that share the same IM host (or whatever they are called), or if you want more options, like tic tac toe!!! Apparently there is also MSN IM, but that is blocked by the fire wall at my school, so I do not have it, and can give you no info on that one.

~bounces off~

AHHHH the monster under the bed is grabbing my leg!!! ~disappears, and like a single sock lost in the wash, shall never be seen again~

trillian works ok with icq.
i think ian uses gaim and i believe it too has icq support.

trillian has an exe install file. gaim, i think, is different. something about compiling or something. those kinds of programs drive me nuts cuz i can never figure it out.

There is an EXE to install gaim on Windows. This is because most people don't have a compiler on their Windows machines.

I would suggest iChat.. but, inorder to do that, you'd have to have a mac. Gaim does have icq and I believe evn yahoo support, although I havnt gotten it to work in YDL yet. You might remember enough of the linux stuff to get it to work. Ive experienced Yahoo, aim, msn, icq.. theyre ok, each has its own special little thing attached to it. We should make our own.. with our very own servers...

i use gaim. it's nice because it lets you use one client for all your IM needs. I mostly just use it as an aim client, although i think i registered my icq information. i just never log into icq.
