Toga-related conclusions
Aug. 21st, 2004 12:13 pmI have come to several toga-related conclusions:
My period better damn well not be early this month
No, I haven't started working on my costume for Kumricon yet. Shut up. I bought pantyhose for it, though, and I've had part of the bootcovers and the top done for a good year and a half now.
- The best way to do the waist part is to wrap it around twice, once as a skirt and once as a top
- There is no way in hell that this will be flattering on me without pantyhose, elastic, and a tulle underskirt
- There is no way to include these items and still be able to remove my toga in front of others without them thinking I am nuts (which, as this is a togas-as-swimsuit-coverings party, is something of a given)

- There is no point in actually making a nice hem around the edge of all this
- I need to come to some kind of decision on the "shaving" issue, as this outfit is definitely going to show legs and armpits (my clothes generally show neither)
- I have no idea where my razor is, which may make that decision for me
- I have no idea where my razor is, which may make that decision for me
- I am tempted to wear my ghost costume instead, as it is somewhat similar, but much more flattering on me
- However, it is August
- This would also be much like wearing a sack over my head, which I have also considered

Date: 2004-08-21 01:48 pm (UTC)hard way? what? i mean easy way. not shaving things is the both the lazy and stylish way out. I am starting a trend, and you should be a part of it. embrace your body hair! yeah!
(i haven't shaved my legs in eons, my mother's wedding being the exception, and recently have stopped shaving armpits. lately, lifting my arms up high to wave at people and whatnot has become kind of exhilarating...giving them an awful surprise. it's fun. i suggest you try it)
besides linnea, you are a pretty girl and therefore can totally pull it off. good luck

Date: 2004-08-21 04:08 pm (UTC)My mother designed her bridesmaid dresses in such a way that no shaving was needed. I am not sure if she did so on purpose to avoid a fight or if I just got lucky.
I have never shaved my armpit hair. Unlike the rest of puberty, which hit me like a ton of bricks at age 10 (I blame this on a particularly bad perm), my armpit hair didn't show up until about college, after I had long since lost any possible interest in hairlessness.
If I finish my costume for Kumoricon I'll need to do some shaving, though, since it's also pretty revealing and cosplay people can be really vicious about things like body hair. Fuckers.
Thanks!
