According to the Kumoricon webpage, they're really hurting for people to book more hotel rooms, so the hotel doesn't get mad. It's $89 per night for up to 6 people in a room. I'm all about having a crash room if I can get at least 3 other people to say yes so it's only about $45 per person (plux tax) for the weekend. 6 people for the $30/person level would be even better. I'm willing to crash on the floor one night but not both, unless the the other people staying let me pay less money for the room in exchange for me taking the floor, in which case I'm fine with the floor both nights. However, this would need to be worked out TODAY because the room rate expires tomorrow. Anyone in? I'll probably call [livejournal.com profile] xiara and [livejournal.com profile] greatblondelf tonight if you two don't comment, so please comment even if it's "no" to avoid phone calls. Also, pre-reg ends the 14th, so if you're going, now's a good time to fill that out.

I'll be up for it-- especially if we can get more than 3 (I'm in cheap-mode). I'm not pre-registering because I won't really have money until school starts, but I can promise now that if you tell me when you're booking the hotel, I'll pay a share even if something crazy happens and I don't end up going (I had a crash room on my credit card for a con once, and then *half* of the people didn't show up for the first night *without* telling us, and they refused to pay for the first night, so I'm not going to pull that shit on anyone).

Also, I'm willing to sleep on the floor. :D

Well, how many can go in one bedroom and how much do they cost? Just out of curiosity.

Yeah, it seems like we'd have to do it today, anyhow......then again, I didn't mind the floor......nor do I mind sleeping next to people, really......

then again, it sounds like the heat is off the con to "get people into the hotel."

well, I'm pre-registering now-ish, and I think the idea of getting a room for at least one of the nights would be good. I should probably ask Liz, since I think she'll be coming along too, and ask how she feels abotu both nights, since, though not broke, we're not loaded at the moment either. How many people would that be in all? is anyone else coming? Furthermore, is there the chance you'd want to get still more people and (slightly) overload with, say, seven people? I'm not sure if chuck is going or not, but I could try to find out......

And I suppose I'm fine sleeping on the floor, but if they give us a big bed, or two smaller ones, we might all be able to fit into them. :)

Hi, I'm Peter, from Kumoricon, and I randomly googled to this page. I just wanted to respond honestly to your post: at that point in time, we asked the hotel for how many rooms in the kumoricon area people had reserved, and it was very low, low enough to worry we would be paying thousands of dollars in penalties. In the process of three days, mostly unbeknownst to us, because the hotel doesn't tell us anything unless we ask, and we get them on the phone, we made our number, because people waited until the last minute to book hotel rooms.

So basically, we encourage everyone to book hotels early, because it keeps us from living in abject fear :-)
