algehI have moved back to Portland! Woo! (I also got a job here in town. The specific school will probably be kept to locked posts, unless I forget. Hi kids! I'm boring, but probably a slightly different boring than you thought I was!)
I'm in SW, which is not at all the part of town I work in, but I found a place where I can hook up my washer and dryer and fit my stuff, so I think it'll be ok. The bus commute will be long but book-infested and both commuting buses are frequent service routes (every 15 minutes or better for most of the day, 7 days a week) so I shouldn't need to deal with much in the way of annoying bus-logistics. I think this will work put pretty well. Also, 3 out of 4 grocery stores that I'm likely to shop at regularly are on the bus lines that pass by my apartment (WinCo looks to be a car-thing from here, but I mostly go there to buy bulk flax seeds and junk food every few months so I'm not too annoyed). Organic eggs are now only a half mile away, and they used to be 30. I am pleased. Also on my bus line: Moonstruck Chocolates and a 24-hour donut shop. I will lose no weight with this move no matter how much I avoid my car.
