Just try to avoid the newbie mistake of trying to sit on the seat, and balance while trying to get your feet on the pedals. Repeat after me, "the seat is for resting part of my weight on while pedaling moderately. Technically, I do not need to touch it at all for the entirety of the ride, except that then my legs would explode, killing onlookers. There really isn't a good reason to be on it at all for the first 30 feet of the ride."
