Postcards!

So, I'm heading to Consonance down in the Bay Area this weekend. On the train, which means I will have lots of spare time to make poorly-drawn homemade postcards unless they yell at me for using Sharpies (in which case I guess they will become ballpoint-based and less colorful). I will also be in a different state when I get there, which means I can buy tourist-style postcards.

Anyway, who wants a postcard? Comment below with your name and mailing address, and any particular requests, such as homemade vs tourist-style or a suggested theme. Requests may not be honored, particularly if I am amused by something else or you request something at all difficult to draw. (Comments will be screened.)

I plan to print out this page Wednesday night, so I'd prefer you to comment here rather than link me to your various locked address posts.

You never really quite told me what your plans were. You still coming up this way?

Yes, I was planning on seeing you on Tuesday the 9th and crashing at your place that night before heading homeward on Wednesday. If that doesn't work for you, please let me know ASAP so I can change my train ticket to be for a day earlier. (I apparently TOTALLY SUCK at this internet-planning thing. My next trip will be planned by phone so everyone is talking at once rather than this back-and-forth.)

It actually works. I do have to go to work around 11 am on the 10th.

Now question is: Where do I pick you up?

Doesn't matter to me. I'll be staying up in Marin county someplace the night before and presumably amusing myself in SF during the day on Tuesday, but would be happy to get to a location of your choice to meet up after you get off work. (Perhaps you could suggest a BART station that's convenient for you, since my guess is that I will not get so lost in SF that I can't find BART again.)

We should probably also exchange phone numbers since I'll be going offline once get there. I'll make a new friendslocked post and link you to it.

The best BART station to reach me is the Walnut Creek station, since it's not even a couple miles from my apartment :)

Ok, that should work. What general time should I aim to be there? (My theory is that I can call you when I get there, unless you enjoy hanging out and waiting for people at train stations.)

I have it on good authority that I dress look exactly like I did in high school, so I assume we'll be able to find each other as long as we're both there at the same time.

Oh, and it turns out that the Coast Starlight does not stop at all of the minor Amtrak stations in the Bay Area, just a few major ones. This is not a problem, as I have looked up how to get to best station of the choices (I chose San Jose over Oakland because it's a better connection on the front end for the con and I assume it's a nicer place to wait at night than Oakland based on nothing other than my vague, poorly-informed, out-of-stater idea that Oakland is not the nicest part of the Bay Area), and it's basically a case of me finding any BART station and taking appropriate trains and buses from there, which does not seem hard to me. (The bus to the train station runs from the Fremont BART station, and two out of the 5 BARTs appear to run there, with reasonably obvious points to transfer to those from the other BARTs.) Of course, I'm trying to plan all of this using the magic of the internet, but it seems like it works the way I want it to and all the transit involved seems to run both late and frequently, so it seems like I should be able to make it work.
