As an older, cane-carrying female who has traveled frequently on greyhound buses, I second qousqous's comment and agree with your cool grammy: I could do more harm to the weirdos than they could to me, should I feel threatened. (Though, being rather weird myself, I seldom feel threatened.)

And I don't even have a shillelagh... considered getting one, but they are heavy!
